To help combat potential fraud stemming from identity theft or other means, the Lake County Register of Deeds office offers a free e-mail fraud alert service for documents recorded in this office.
To sign up for this service, simply provide your name and e-mail address. Once your information has been added to the alert system, you should receive an e-mail confirming your signup. Please contact the Register of Deeds office if you do not receive a confirmation e-mail within two business days.
After enrollment into the program, when the Lake County Register of Deeds office records documents under the name(s) you have provided, an email notification will be sent to the email address you provided.
Alerts are sent based upon name matches. If multiple people share the same name, all with that name enrolled in the fraud alert program will receive notifications whenever ANY document is recorded containing that name.
