Our Mission

Lake County Emergency Management is committed to safeguarding our rural communities by ensuring we are ready, resilient, and working together because in an emergency, every second and every neighbor matters.

What is Emergency Management?

Emergency Management is the coordinated effort to prepare for, respond to, recover from, and reduce the impacts of disasters whether natural, technological, or human-caused. It is about protecting lives, property, and the environment through planning, training, partnerships, and community resilience.

What We Do for Lake County

In a rural county like ours, where resources are limited and neighbors depend on one another, Emergency Management serves as the hub that brings people, agencies, and resources together when it matters most. We:

  • Plan ahead so our communities are ready for severe storms, wildfires, flooding, or public health emergencies.

  • Coordinate response between fire, law enforcement, EMS, public health, utilities, schools, and volunteer groups to ensure a unified effort.

  • Support recovery by helping residents and businesses connect with state and federal resources after a disaster.

  • Build resilience through training, education, and public outreach so every family and organization knows how to prepare and stay safe.
