Accounts Payable- Purchasing Coordinator and FOIA Clerk

LOCATION: Baldwin, MI
WAGE RANGE: $22.46 – $28.53/hour

Lake County is currently accepting applications for an Accounts Payable-Purchasing Coordinator and FOIA Clerk in the Administration Department. This is a full time, 40 hour per week position with excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, short term disability and life insurance; a retirement plan with a generous County contribution; as well as paid time off and paid holidays.

This position ensures timely and accurate processing of invoices, generates checks for payment, submits vendor invoices for approval, and responds to requests for information. In addition, this position processes all County Freedom of Information Act requests and appeals, manages the County credit card, reconciles utility invoices, submits orders to vendors, and ensure new vendors are in compliance with County requirements. This position also maintains an asset list, process 1099s, and assists with the development of packets and agendas for the Board of Commissioners meetings.

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School Diploma or GED required with three years’ advanced coursework in office administration. Prefer advanced coursework in accounting and bookkeeping.

Experience: Minimum three to five years’ experience in a governmental and/or office environment. Preferred five years’ progressively more responsible experience working independently in an office environment.

911 Emergency Dispatcher (Full-Time)

LOCATION: Baldwin, MI
WAGE RANGE: $44,653 – $52,814 Annually (2026)

Lake County Central Dispatch (LCCD) is currently seeking applicants for a 911 Emergency Dispatcher.  Dispatchers serve as the first point of contact for community members requesting assistance. This position determines location and priority of emergencies, relays information between callers and first responders, and provides assistance with non-emergency calls in a variety of ways. LCCD is a 24/7 operation, so applicants must be willing to work any shift, including nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call. While experience is appreciated, there is a mandatory training. This is a full-time position with generous benefits, including:

Clerk, Equalization Department

LOCATION: Baldwin, MI
WAGE RANGE: $19.40 – $24.47/hour

Lake County is seeking to hire a motivated individual to work in the Equalization Department on a part-time basis as an Equalization Clerk.  This position will average 24 hours per week.

The Equalization Clerk is responsible for assisting in responding to public inquiries regarding assessment records and processes.  The position enters sales data and processes recorded documents into computer databases, including posting changes in property descriptions, owner names, and addresses; and prints reports, notices, and rolls from database.  The position also provides information concerning property descriptions and locations, assessed values, and ownership to citizens, township officials, banks, title insurance companies, and other parties.  Performance of related general office duties is also expected.

Certifications and/or Licenses:  Current and valid State of Michigan driver’s license. Currently possess a Michigan Certified Assessing Technician (MCAT) is preferred, or the ability to obtain within 1 year after hire.

Job Summary
Authorizes requests for warrants as appropriate in accordance with legal standards and requirements. Negotiates pleas and sentencing recommendations with attorneys and defendants to resolve pending criminal cases. Researches and prepares misdemeanor criminal cases for court proceedings, and conducts court appearances. Assists in prosecuting felony, juvenile, and probate cases. Assists in Child Support cases as needed. Drafts motions, briefs and other legal documents. Assumes responsibility for office in absence of Prosecuting Attorney.

Skills

  • Advanced communication skills, in-depth knowledge of law as acquired through a completion of law degree from an accredited law school.
  • Ability to prepare cases and conduct trials, complete legal documents, properly issue warrants with minimal direction and or supervision.
  • Must qualify as Chief Assistant Prosecutor through official appointment, completion of constitutional oath of office, and filing of bond ( if required) in accordance with State statutes.
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills necessary to present cases, negotiate plea agreements, work cooperatively with diverse group of contacts including victims, witnesses, police officers, judges and so forth.
  • High level analytical abilities required in order to understand and evaluate legal issues and implications, thoroughly plan effective trial strategies and presentations, prepare legal documents and make appropriate determinations in authorizing warrants and investigating cases.

Road Patrol Deputy; Full & Part-Time

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting applications for one full-time and multiple part- time Road Patrol Deputy positions.
The 2026 starting wage for the full-time position is $25.46 per hour, $52,957 annual. Top pay is received at year four of service. The 2026 four-year wage is $31.30 per hour, $65,104 annual. The 2026 starting wage for the part-time positions is $25.46 per hour. Part-time employees progress up the wage scale upon the completion of 2080 hours of work.
The Sheriff can request the Board of Commissioners to hire an employee at the two-year wage, based on prior education, training, and experience. The 2026 two-year wage is $27.90 per hour, $58,032 annual for full-time. An applicant being considered for employment will be required to pass an oral board interview, a criminal background check, a psychological examination, a physical examination, and a drug screen. If hired, an applicant must successfully complete a field training program.
 
JOB DESCRIPTION
As a member of the Sheriff’s Road Patrol, a full or part-time Road Patrol Deputy performs general duty police work in the protection of life and property throughout the county. Maintains law and order, prevents crime, deals with complaints, and renders emergency assistance to the public as a uniformed officer. May serve civil papers. Work is performed in accordance with departmental rules and regulations and standard methods and practices. A degree of independent initiative and judgment must be exercised by the employee under emergency conditions. The work may involve an element of danger.
 
REQUIREMENTS
The qualified candidate will have the following knowledge and skills: The ability to quickly learn law enforcement methods, practices and procedures. Ability to gain a good working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws and to attain efficiency in the methods and practices of criminal investigation expected. Ability to carry out instructions and swiftly adopt an effective and sound course of action, as well as an ability to deal fairly and effectively with the public. Good powers of observation, sound judgment, good moral character, combined with excellent physical and mental condition, courage, strength and the ability to withstand stress required. Proficiency in the use of firearms. Must possess excellent verbal communication skills and be capable of adapting to
potentially violent or unstable situations.
